This is actually a teaching blog about understanding the seventh commandment, in the context of biblically designed sex. I’ll connect the commandment and sex with the blog’s title toward the end, but first let’s see what God’s rule number seven is:
Ex 20:14 – You shall not commit adultery. NASU
Seems straightforward doesn’t it? Adultery is defined throughout scripture as any sexual activity outside of a legal marriage between a man and a woman. In this scripture Jesus, who is God, clarified this even more for us:
Matt 5:27-28 – You have heard that it was said, ‘YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. NASU
In this we are to understand adultery in a deeper way, the simple principle being this:
- Adultery is a psychological act.
